CIB Elections, September 2018

It is with great pleasure and with joy that we announce that Sr Lynn Marie McKenzie from the Sacred Heart Monastery in Cullman, Alabama USA and currently the President of the Federation of St Scholastica has been elected the CIB Moderator for the next four years. We offer our prayerful support and blessings to her as she takes on this important role on our behalf.

At the same meeting Sr Franziska Lukas, Abbess of St Scholastika Abbey in Dinklage, Germany was elected Assistant Moderator. The following two sisters were elected to the Administrative Council: Sr Thérèse-Marie Dupagne from Prieure Notre-Dame D'Hurtebise, Belgium and Sr M. Caritas Swai from the Benedictine Sisters of Our Lady Help of Christians, Ndanda, Tanzania East Africa.

The Conference of Religious joined enclosed nuns from across the UK and Ireland who gathered at Stanbrook Abbey in North Yorkshire for a three day meeting to examine a new Vatican document outlining rules governing their monastic structure and way of life. The conference was  led by two canon lawyers, Sr Scholastika Haring, a Benedictine from Germany and Fr Luke Beckett,  a monk of Ampleforth Abbey.
